Georgette Arnould
GEORGETTE LOUISE ARNOULD
(née BAUER)
April 8, 1947 - January 24, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Georgette in the evening of January 24th at the age of 75.
Left to treasure her memory are her children Roger Arnould (Carla), Glen Arnould and Denyse Neuman (Trent); grandchildren Austin, Emily, Maryn, Allan, Evan and Logan; brother Edward Bauer (Trudee) as well as her cherished nieces and nephews.
Georgette was predeceased by her husband of 53 years Dennis; parents George and Monette Bauer; sister Linda Shurvell; brothers Bradley and John Bauer; brother-in-law Wayne Shurvell and special angel Emma-Lee.
Georgette was born in Winnipeg and grew up in the St. James area with her father, mother and three siblings. At the age of 17, she went to a legion barbeque where she met the love of her life, Dennis. The young couple hit it off immediately and were married two short years later. When Georgette was 23, she and Dennis welcomed their first born, Roger, into the world. Glen was born 2 years later and Denyse followed 4 years after that.
Dennis and Georgette had the absolute luck and privilege to be able to spend 53 years together. They spent the vast majority of those years in their family home in Charleswood. Both were avid gardeners and many summer dinners included fresh produce that was grown in the backyard. Often the house had a wonderful aroma of fresh-baked apple pie, made with apples from their tree. Georgette was an amazing cook and often her children still brag about her delicious offerings. She could whip up an amazing meal with just a few ingredients and no recipe.
Georgette loved time spent with family and friends. Shopping trips, walks in the park, Yahtzee nights, bingo nights and trips to the casino were some of her favourites. She had a great sense of humour and loads of compassion.
During their last year together, Dennis and Georgette were blessed to be able to share a room in their personal care home. All of the staff members loved to see them in the hallways, doting on each other.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Poseidon Care Centre for the care and compassion they gave to Georgette during her time at the home. The affection that they felt for her was obvious in the stories that they told to the family during their visits.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has already taken place. A celebration of life for family and close friends will take place on Saturday, April 8th, 2023 by invitation only.
Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to CancerCare Manitoba.
