Rod Bollenbach

BOLLENBACH, Rod - Obit Photo.jpg

September 13, 1958 - August 8, 2022

It is with profound sadness, we announce that Rodney (Rod) Bollenbach passed away on August 8, 2022, after a painful battle with cancer, exasperated by a broken health care system.

Rod was born in Winnipeg and was 63 years of age. He was predeceased by his parents Laura and Norman Bollenbach and recently, by his brother Randy Hanna (Bollenbach).

He leaves behind his common-law wife, Marie Denis. His children Amber Hernando (Fernando), Celia Bollenbach (their mother Cindy Stange) and Ryan Bollenbach (his mother Maureen Gillespie). As well as stepchildren, Tracy Doherty (Diogo), Jennifer Reidulff (Richard) and Laura Gillespie. He also leaves behind a combined total of 9 grandchildren, sisters Sandy Fright (Blair) and Cheryl Tyslau (Richard) and brother Sheldon Bollenbach. As well as numerous nephews and friends.

Rod was first and foremost an electrician, having followed in his father's footprints. He worked for various companies over the years, always switching between commercial, residential, and industrial. Everywhere he went, he would comment on some aspect of the electrical work. He was especially amazed at the electrical system (or lack of) in Mexico and would walk around shaking his head.
Rod had a passion for motorcycles and vintage cars, there wasn't a car or motorcycle show that he didn't attend in Winnipeg and surrounding areas. He was thrilled to attend a Barrett Jackson auction in Las Vegas, as well as the motorcycle rally in Sturgis. He built his first motorcycles before he was 20 and considered himself fortunate to own several muscle cars over the years, including his three favorites, all Mustangs!

Rod was very quick witted, with a sarcastic sense of humor. He was an avid and dedicated Blue Bomber fan and was very excited to witness two grey cups in a row!

Rod will be forever missed by us all.

Per Rod's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place later for family only.

Rod's family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

God looked around his garden
And found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the earth,
And saw your tired face.

He put His arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering,
He knew that you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.

He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered “Peace be thine.”

It broke our hearts to lose you
But you did not go alone…
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
