JOSEPH "JOE" BROWN

February 9, 1941 - November 11, 2023

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joseph (Joe) Benjamen Brown in the early hours of November 11th, 2023 in St. Pierre, Manitoba. Joe will be remembered for his instantly likable personality, his candor, and his unconditional love for others.

Joe was born on February 9th 1943, to James Brown and Mildred Stackhouse in Saint John, New Brunswick. Living throughout Saint John in his youth, he attended Saint John Vocational School. With an eye for detail, he took an interest in fine and graphics arts. This would later shape his work in technical publications and his hobbies of painting, model car building, and photography. He would often be entrusted as the photographer for family and social gatherings, sometimes to the detriment of him being in the action!

Being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses was deeply important to Joe. Baptized in 1953, he remained dedicated to Jehovah through the majority of his life. Touching the lives of many in his devotion to Service work and Bible ministry, his faith shaped his life in innumerable ways.

Joe is survived by his children; Blaine (Monika) Asmundson, Rose (Walter Peters) Asmundson, and Cameron Brown. He is also survived by his former wife Debby Brown, and his friend Maria Sheard and daughter Cathy. He is preceded in death by his sister Judith Asmundson, his first wife, Frances Brown, and his parents.

Grandpa Joe was a gifted conversationalist who had the ability to speak directly to your heart. Grandpa Joe spent countless hours sharing his wisdom, humour, and life lessons while lovingly taking the time to nurture a unique relationship with each of his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His booming laugh was as big as his heart and his grandchildren, Tiffany (Bava), Tysenn, Brayden, Keenan (Anita), Clay, Nicole, and Brianna and his great-grandchildren, Caden, Ari, Amariah, Amina, and Baby Nala will miss him dearly.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Centre médico-social De Salaberry District Health Centre of St. Pierre for their kindness and care.

A memorial in honour of Joe’s life will be held at a later date.

Joe’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
