YVONNE MARIE

JOSEPHINE BRUNETTE

(née SMITH)

It is with great sadness that the family announces their dear mother Yvonne Marie Josephine Brunette (Smith), 77 years of age, passed away with her children and grandchildren by her side on July 13, 2017.

Living the past ten years of her life with COPD, Yvonne is finally at peace.  As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. Her children held a private family gathering in Yvonne’s honour. Forever in our hearts and always in our thoughts she will be.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the ICU staff at the Victoria General Hospital for their heartfelt care and compassion in Yvonne’s final hours.

Left to mourn are her 7 children: Martine and husband Rob of Burnaby, British Columbia; Bridget and husband Wayne of Langley, British Columbia; Nicole and late husband Greg of Winnipeg, Manitoba; Blair and wife Charlene of Kawartha lakes, Ontario, Joel and Jen of Winnipeg, Manitoba; Jennifer and husband Robert of Birds Hill, Manitoba; Chantelle and Michael of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Yvonne was blessed with eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, sisters, brothers, and cherished friends.

Yvonne was an adventurous spirit. She spent most of her adult life working as a cook at various fly in fishing lodges. Maynard lake, Ontario was one particular fishing lodge she held dear to her heart. She enjoyed sharing her stories of the places she traveled to with passion and joy. She loved being outdoors and surrounded by nature. Not one humming bird went hungry on Yvonne's watch!  Yvonne was a truly amazing cook and baker, always more then happy to make you your favourite dish! A word seek guru, Yvonne spent several hours a day enjoying this activity. She was a strong woman who knew what she wanted and would not hesitate to tell others what she felt they needed. A meticulous woman, she appreciated a job well-done and sought out perfection in everything and expected the same.

Most importantly, the essential thing for Yvonne was the happiness of her children and she would do anything to guarantee it.   Yvonne loved her children and grandchildren. Spending time with family provided Yvonne with much comfort and joy.

Yvonne lived her life on her terms, "I did it my way” was her motto and she held true to her words until the end.

You will be missed mom xox

If I could have a lifetime wish,
A dream that would come true,
I would pray to God with all my heart
for yesterday and you.
A thousand words can’t bring you back,
I know because I’ve tried.
Neither will a million tears,
I know because I’ve cried.
You left behind my broken heart,
and happy memories too,
But I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.
People say this hurt I feel,
Is something that won’t last,
But I think I’ll miss you just as much
until all my tears have passed.
