BURSEY, Roland - Obituary Photo.jpg

ROLAND CLIFFORD BURSEY

August 6, 1947 - September 23, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Roland Bursey at Vista Park Personal Care Home on September 23 2021 at the age of 74.

Roland was predeceased by his parents William and Edith Bursey, son Sheldon, sister Bernice and brothers Gordon and Eldred.

Roland will be lovingly remembered by his wife Bernadine; son Logan; daughter Debra (Brad) Ross, along with his grandchildren Taylor and Dillon. Left with loving memories are his sisters, Josephine Lane, Effie (Clayton) Halliday, Stel Bursey, and Laura Gillingham; brothers, Nelson (Leta) Bursey and Glen (Betty) Bursey; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and numerous friends.

Roland worked for several years at EMCO Corporation in the plumbing department before retiring in 2012.  After retiring, he spent time volunteering with local community programs such as the Youville school lunch program and assisting in providing rides for local seniors in the community.

Roland was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf hockey fan and enjoyed watching the Toronto Blue Jays.  Roland played hockey in his younger years and was known as the maskless goaltender. He also enjoyed bowling in several leagues over the years and made many friendships. Roland was a very genuine person who embraced his Newfoundland / Labrador Inuit heritage. He was a fabulous cook and made many Jigs dinners. His home was filled with Newfoundland music and Lighthouses and fishing boats and several ornaments that reminded him of his Newfie heritage.

The family would like to extend our deepest thanks and gratitude to the staff and nurses at the Vista Park Personal Care Home for all the extra care and assistance given to Roland during his stay there.

According to Roland’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will be held at a later date to celebrate Roland’s life.

Rest easy now Roland, in God’s loving care. This is not goodbye and we will carry you in our hearts forever, until we are together again.
