NORM(AN) EDWARD COOLEY

July 9, 1959 - November 3, 2022

After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with profound sadness and so much love that we announce Norm’s peaceful passing at Riverview Health Centre.

Norm is lovingly remembered/survived by his wife and soulmate of 34 years Lee-Ann, children Ryan (Lisa), Eric (Katelyn), Kaitlin (AKA Katie), fur babies Diego and Yeti and grand fur babies Mello and Luna; siblings Pat (Bill), Jim (Val), Pam, Tom, Richard (Paulette), Wendy (Gerry), Debbie (Bruce), Linda, and Brenda (Garth); Numerous nieces and nephews, extended family including his Netley crew, and many dear lifelong friends. Norm is predeceased by his parents James and Susan Cooley, siblings Willie and Bob, and brother-in-law Grant.

Born on July 9, 1959 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Norm moved to Winnipeg with his parents and siblings as a child. After graduating from St. John’s High School, Norm worked various jobs before starting his successful business, Quality Clutch & Brake, in 1992.

Throughout his life, Norm had countless fur babies aka “little buddies,” as he called them. Lucky, Chevy, KC, Birdy, and Archie anxiously await him in Heaven for their morning walks and treats.

Norm, or “Popski” as his children affectionately called him, was an avid collector of all things, from cars to board games, much to his family’s…amusement.

Spending his summers at Netley Creek with family and friends, countless days were spent fishing and endless nights were spent Belgian bowling, playing washers, sitting around the fire and visiting the Petersfield Hotel to play VLTs.

Norm had a way of making everyone feel welcome and included. Truly, to know him was to love him.

Special thanks to nurse Tamara, Drs. Andrew Maksymiuk,    Dr. Bashir and treatment room nurses at CancerCare Manitoba. We would also like to thank the medical team on 3 East at Riverview Health Center for making his final journey a peaceful one.

In true Stormin’ Norman fashion, a non-traditional celebration of life will be held at the Rivercrest Inn (4200 Main Street, West St. Paul) on Thursday, November 24th 2022 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. As per Norms request there will be no speeches. Please come and raise a glass for norm, and share stories and warm memories.

In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to CancerCare Manitoba or Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue.

WE WILL LOVE AND MISS YOU FOREVER!
