Carmelle Crymble

CRYMBLE, Carmelle - Obituary Photo.jpg

May 15, 1963 - May 11, 2022

With heavy hearts, we announce that Carmelle passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on May 11, 2022, in the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative care unit at the age of 58 years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years Terry; daughters Alyssa and Caitlyn; brother Richard (Barbara) and many other extended family members and friends who loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her Parents Victor and Yvonne Fredette.

Carmelle was the oldest of two children, raised in Winnipeg Manitoba where she attended Viscount Alexander and Vincent Massey Collegiate. She went on to pursue a degree in Nursing at the University of Winnipeg. She later met her husband Terry in 1986 at Carmelle’s friend Francine’s house and the two got married in 1989. Carmelle and Terry spent the next few years travelling before having their oldest daughter, Alyssa. They took trips to Jamaica, B.C. and Banff before purchasing their first home together and starting a family. Five years after Alyssa was born, they had their second daughter Caitlyn.

Carmelle was a nurse at St. Boniface Hospital for over 30 years until her retirement in 2017. She had a passion for helping others- whether that was her patients, friends, or family. She had an extremely kind heart and always put others before herself. She also had a very fun and goofy side to her. She had a good sense of humor and loved to laugh. Carmelle was loyal and very loving, living her life judgement free. She was easy to talk to, gave excellent advice, and was always willing to lend an ear to listen. She was very proud of her two girls and was actively involved in their schools over the years helping at field trips and the school lunch program, despite working full time at the hospital. She always made time for her girls no matter what and would spend hours playing with them when they were little. Carmelle loved the outdoors and could most often be found working in her garden at home or out for walks with friends or her husband Terry. She spent most of her days reading, watching scary movies and true crime documentaries, and cheering for the Winnipeg Jets on TV. She was a great lover of animals- particularly the family dog “Maya” whom she would spend much time with outside in summer working in the garden.

Carmelle loved spending time with her friends and family and enjoyed going on vacation. Her favourite trip was when she and her family drove to California where they spent time swimming in the ocean, at Disneyland and exploring the Redwood Forest. Carmelle also enjoyed a trip to B.C. with her friends Barb, Sue, and Francine this past summer who were greatly cherished friends. Carmelle also enjoyed spending time with close friends Joanne, Brynne, Jody and Christie. One of her favourite times of year was Christmas eve, where husband Terry’s extended family would get together at their house and exchange gifts and eat Christmas baking. She loved baking with her two girls for Christmas and would always decorate extensively. She always made sure to decorate the entire house for every holiday and birthday. This is a tradition that will be carried on by her family.

As per her wishes, a tree will be planted in Carmelle’s honour at King’s Park in Winnipeg, where she loved to go for walks with her friends and family. A formal service will not be held but a celebration of life will take place with close family and friends this summer.

Carmelle's family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.
