June 9, 1937 - November 23, 2023

On the evening of November 23, 2023, Elaine peacefully said goodbye to family and friends. Elaine is now with her husband, Jack; son David; brother Gerald; mom Edith; father Milton; brother-in-law Dick; and too many friends that have passed before her.

We take solace knowing that she is now no longer struggling with the physical body that created so many limitations on her free spirit.

Elaine leaves to remember her: her daughters, Jo Jo - Janis Holiday (Andy), Sharon Hole and Gloria Hole, the daughters whom she had a very special relationship with, Kim Davidson (Al), and Kelly Shelden (Mark); her sisters Betty and Sheila (Angus); grandchildren Alex Morrison – Holiday and Darian Holiday; extended family; her companion cat Annie; and many very dear friends.

Elaine was born in Kentville Nova Scotia where she was a burst of light through school and nursing college, dancing and grabbing life with gusto. She travelled and worked in many places as a Nurse before settling in Winnipeg and marrying Gordon Hole to build a family. She moved to Kenora, Ontario when her granddaughter Alex was born. She had met the love of her life, Jack, who cherished her so much. They enjoyed singing together in a variety of church and musical groups. Throughout her life she had created many friendships golfing, singing, painting, travelling, and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren Alex and Darian.

You would see Elaine throughout her life dancing, gardening, baking, hopping on her daughters or friends’ Harleys to feel the wind in her hair and a sense of freedom. She loved to sing in many church choirs and musical groups from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Florida, Winnipeg and Kenora enjoyed having her song. She would bake regularly and anyone around would benefit from the love that she created in the kitchen. Every family member is guaranteed to have homemade mitts, socks, scarfs, blankets that Elaine lovingly knit or crocheted as well as Christmas cards, birthday cards and paintings that she created with watercolor. These items are now cherished even more so now. We love and will miss you always.

The love in your heart;
The light in your eyes
Will dance forever in our hearts.

A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2024 in Nova Scotia.

Elaine's family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.
