February 21, 1967 - March 7, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Michael William Ducharme at the age of 55 at his residence in the early morning of Monday, March 7, 2022.
He also leaves to mourn his passing his father Ray; sisters, Merle (Patrick), and Maxine (Will); children, Shannon (Steve), and Christopher; grandchildren, Emma, Mya, and Lynn; nieces, Renee, Jodie, and Chyann; nephews, Nick, and Devin; great-nephews, Darnel Jr., and Milo; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Mike was pre-deceased by his mother, Geraldine September 11, 2017, and his brother, Mark, Sunday, November 22, 2020.
Mike was born on February 21, 1967 at the Selkirk General Hospital, resided in Lac Du Bonnet, MB for the first few years of his life and spent the rest of his life in Winnipeg. Mike grew up in the North End went to Strathcona School, Isaac Newton, and then went on to R.B. Russell.
Mike had a good childhood, made many fond memories and friends, he still remained friends with a few that he kept in touch with to this day. During his young life he played many sports, whether it was for school teams or for Boyd Park Community Centre. His competitive side came out when he played hockey and baseball. As he got older, he continued to play baseball which he was most passionate about. Mike was also musically talented in his teen years, he loved to sing, play guitar and drums.
When he became a father to his children Shannon and Christopher, he enjoyed the time he got to spend with them. Soon his grandchildren came along; he didn’t get to know them due to his own struggles, but deep down he loved them dearly.
Mike was last employed with EZ Workforce a temporary labour agency. He was the account manager who obtained new contracts for temp jobs. He was also responsible for recruiting and hiring people as well. Mike always talked about his job, the great people he worked with (Bill and Shawn) and all the people he met. He found a bit of happiness with EZ Workforce and had hope for success.
The family would like to thank his colleagues, Bill and Shawn, for having faith in him and giving him that opportunity to succeed. To Dad, thank you for letting him reside with you, you gave him companionship, friendship and a loving home, and he gave you all that in return. We know you will miss him wholeheartedly. Also, to our friends and family, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your condolences, phone calls and support.
Cremation will take place with a family service to follow at a later date. In the meantime, Mike's family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to The Addictions Foundation of Manitoba.
Rest in Peace Mike, you will be forever missed.
Don’t think of him as gone away
his journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.
Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.
Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched…
for nothing loved is ever lost
and he was loved so much.
