July 25, 1928 - November 8, 2023

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Walter Dzioba at the Grace Hospital on November 8, 2023 at the age of 95 years. 


Left to mourn his passing are his two sons; Michael (Kristy) and Mark; grandchildren; Craig (Amber), Michael (Felicia), Jennie, Tye and Kaylee; one sister; Pauline of Victoria, BC.; and sister-in-law Sonia Hickey (Alvin) from Kamloops BC. Walter was predeceased by his parents; Michael and Anna Dzioba; his wife of 57 years, Helen; son Harold; grandson Thomas; three sisters, Mary, Kay, and Rose; and one sister Nettie, in infancy.


Dad was born in Ridgeville, Manitoba on July 25, 1928. He stayed on the farm until 1956 when he came to Winnipeg and worked at Canada Packers, Inland Steel, Dominion Foundry and lastly Canadian Bronze for more than 30 years, retiring in 1992. Dad and Mom were married on October 17, 1958 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Vita, Manitoba. Dad and Mom took us on many vacations visiting various places, Dad spent many winters coaching Mike and Mark in hockey. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren right up until his passing. In June 2022, he took residence at Holy Family Nursing Home where he was well taken care of.


Dad was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed dearly. A special thanks to Patrick, Charlene and Harold and all the nurses and health care aids at Holy Family on 3A.


Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service.
