November 13, 1934 - November 5, 2023

With heavy hearts, we announce that Bert passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg, at the age of 88.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl, of 35 years of marriage; children -Diane (Neil), Eleanor, Maureen (Billy), Ken (Angie), Tim (Joanne), Alison (Ward): grandchildren - Hal (Melissa), Kyle, Aaron (Jenn), Ken (Sarah), Justin, Raymond, Eric, Robyn, Sarah, and Ryan, and 6 beautiful great grandchildren.

Bert was the second eldest of 4 siblings raised by Bert Sr. and Catherine (née Morrow) Farrant in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay), Ontario. After completing his Bachelor of Science and Business Administration Degree at Michigan Tech in the U.S., Bert moved to Winnipeg to start his 34-year career with the T. Eaton Company in various management positions finishing his career in the Executive Office. He raised his family of 4 children in Windsor Park and Southdale with his first wife, (Eleanor), then expanded his family by 2 more children when he married Pearl in October of 1988. Once Bert retired, California became their second home. Bert and Pearl spent winters with his mother, sister and brother. In 2007, Bert and Pearl moved to Kelowna, B.C. and built their dream home on a golf course.

Bert greatly enjoyed fishing and camping. He was active in golfing and curling until he was 86 years old. If you had the time to listen, Bert would tell you in great detail every hole he golfed and every end he curled. He would proudly let you know he had 3 holes-in-one. But his proudest moment in golf, is when he birdied every par 3 at Tower Ranch Golf Course, Kelowna, in one round of golf. He was President of Acklands Curling Club in Winnipeg and Treasurer of the Senior Men's Curling Club in Kelowna.

A celebration of their life will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road (Unitarian Church).

In Accordance with Bert's wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, please consideration making contribution in Bert's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
