Adele Hay | Obituary | Ethical Death Care | Winnipeg

February 23, 1952 – January 02, 2024

With profound sadness, we announce that after a lengthy illness, Adele is at peace and has left us to be with her beloved husband Brian.

She was predeceased by Brian in November 2011, her parents, Gus and Mary; brother Rene; granddaughter Kelsee, and great nephew Codie.

Adele is survived by her daughters Tina (Brian), children Ryan and Andrew; Bryna, children Taylor, Teagan, and Rylee; Shannon (Dale) children, Brayden and Brittany; and stepson Ken. Great grandchildren Bellamy (Kelsee); Bostyn, Ozbourne, Vyla, (Taylor); and Vayda (Brittany). Her sisters Gladys (Ken); Mary-Jean (Steve); sister-in-law Aida. Shaun Glascow (Jamie), who she considered her adopted son, nieces, nephews, and her fur-baby Mea, the golden retriever who was her constant companion.

Adele grew up in West Kildonan, attending Centennial Elementary, Edmund Partridge Junior High, finally graduating from West Kildonan Collegiate. She maintained many friendships from her childhood, keeping in touch with those who moved away. Following graduation, she became a valued employee in the trade of cutting, starting with G3 until they closed. Due to her health, she had to retire from FIA Inc., after 25 years. A job she thoroughly enjoyed.

Adele met Brian when she was a teenager and they were together for 42 years. They enjoyed camping and fishing. They made many friends while camping at Nutimuk, eventually moving to a permanent campsite at Chesley’s in Petersfield, Adele’s “Happy place.” It was the place for Yahtzee and card games, too many to count. Adele was most often the winner at Crib, Yahtzee, not so much.

The family also thanks Bill and his daughter Kim, for helping Adele by looking after her house, and in so many other ways during her illness and numerous hospital stays.

Words cannot express how much Adele was loved and will be missed by so many people. Interment of ashes will take place in the spring.

When tomorrow starts without me,

and I’m not here to see,

If the sun should shine, and find your eyes,

filled with tears for me.

I wish so much you wouldn’t cry,

the way you did today,

While thinking of the many things,

we didn’t get to say.

I know how much you loved me,

as much as I love you,

And each time you think of that,

I know you’ll miss me too.

When tomorrow starts without me,

don’t think we’re far apart,

For every time you think of me,

I’m right there in your heart.
