Robert James Hobbs (Bob) passed away March 17, 2023 after a lengthy illness in Neepawa Hospital.

Left to mourn his loss is his loving wife Diane of 60 years. He was a cherished uncle to his nieces and nephew and their families. Bob was predeceased by his parents Rose and John; and his brother Jack.

Bob was born in Brandon, Manitoba on September 11, 1933 and lived most of his life in the village of Riding Mountain. He was educated in Riding Mountain and Kellwood and went to Normal School in Winnipeg to become a teacher. He finished his degree in Brandon. He taught in Thompson and for many years in the Beautiful Plains School District where he was a much-loved teacher. He finished his teaching career in Hazel M Kellington School in Neepawa, where he taught grade 2.

After retirement, he and Diane travelled to England and took many cruises to the Caribbean and Hawaii. They also travelled by car to the west coast many times. Both Bob and Diane enjoyed camping and fishing. He loved the Ham Radio, reading history books and watching baseball. Bob was a valued member of the Riding Mountain district.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Diane would like to thank Dr. S. Wiebe, staff at Neepawa Hospital, Breanne Farquhar, home care, Emma, Mary Ellen Clark (palliative care), Kinsment Kourt II (Dana), and especially Bev Dinsdale Blake, Harry Blake and Linda Wahoski for their kindness and care of Bob.

A graveside service will be held in the summer at the Riding Mountain Cemetery.
