SUSAN NOREEN JAMES

(née BROWNE)

October 18, 1948 – May 2, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Susan Noreen James on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at the young age of 70 years.

Left to mourn her passing are her two daughters Shyra Nobles (David) and Stacey James; grandchildren Shaydan, Tristan, Brycen & Emercyn, Lyric and Kyrie; sisters Barbara Donovan (Chris) and Kimberley Sylvestre (Wayne); niece Erin and nephews  Johnathan, Douglas, Stephen, Derek and Corey. Susan is reunited with her mother Noreen Browne and her brother Richard Kaatz.

Susan was born in Winnipeg on October 19, 1948. She grew up in St. Boniface and attended Nelson McIntyre Collegiate where she met her lifelong friend Linda Joss. In her late teens and early 20's she found her way to music and had the opportunity to travel to many different places such as Vietnam during the war in the 1960's as the musical entertainment.

Susan worked for many years as a Specialized Taxation Refund Auditor for the Government of Manitoba, taking great pride in her work. She retired at the age of 60 and set out on her new journey

Susan loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to pass time with listening to music as a huge music lover, completing crossword puzzles , playing games ,knitting, bingo, or watching a good show. In her younger years she enjoyed lots of reading, poetry, singing, and dancing.  She loved doing things for other people and helping others. She was a very caring and giving person who always had an open, non-judgemental ear available to anyone in need. Susan was known for her “spicy” personality and was never afraid to start a conversation with anyone.

Susan was a great mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched. We will always love her and she will always be in our thoughts and hearts.

The family will have a public celebration of life on May 9, 2019. A come and go celebration, in memory of Susan will be held for family and friends at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 477 Westwood Drive, Winnipeg, MB.
