July 31, 1938 – September 30, 2022
Maggie passed away Sept. 30 at Grace Hospital with family members at her side.
Maggie was predeceased by her parents Frank and Agnes, her siblings, Don, Linda and Marilyn and her son Robert. She leaves behind, her children, Ric (Debbie) Flett, Darrell Flett, Michael (Kseniya) Flett and Kristen Isfeld; her grandchildren, Meghan & Kaitlyn Flett, Olivia & Rhys Flett, Brenden Isfeld, Brie-Anne Bourcier and Kinzie Coughlan, and her great- grandchildren Tayvin, Easton, Emilia and Indie.
Maggie was born and raised in St. James. Over the years, she worked at many jobs, the most recent for Child & Family Services from which retired in 2005. She was a very compassionate person who always supported and fought for those less fortunate.
Her children meant everything to her. She was fiercely proud of all of her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She was always happy to attend events and spend family time together.
Maggie was an athlete in her youth and enjoying watching sports right up until her final days. In earlier years she attended her sons’ and grandkids’ sporting activities whenever she could, cheering them on. But, basketball was her favourite game and the Toronto Raptors her favourite team. She could name all the players and their stats and never missed a game on TV. She was ecstatic when they won the NBA championship.
Maggie was a very strong and independent woman. Unfortunately, health issues, which she had battled all of her life, finally became too much and she passed away of complications from COVID.
The family would like to thank her good friends Linda & Art and the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for all their support in this past year.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 22 from 1-3 p.m. at the West Kildonan Legion, Darlington Lounge, 1748 Main Street All are welcome. In the meantime, Margaret’s family kindly requests that her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos and/or sharing your own memories and stories using the comment section on this page.
If anyone so desires, a contribution to any agency helping the underprivileged would carry on Maggie’s spirit.
