BARRY GORDON LOCKEN
December 31, 1958 - May 13, 2022
With broken hearts we regret to announce that Barry Gordon Locken (Age 63), suddenly passed away on May 13, 2022 with his family by his side.
Barry was born December 31, 1958, to Albert & Dorothy Locken (both deceased) in Winnipeg, MB. He moved to Nanaimo, BC during his children’s school years to be closer to the ocean and mountains and to chase his dreams. Ultimately, the prairie-born always come back, and 6 years ago he returned to Winnipeg.
Barry leaves behind his beloved wife of 38 years, Pamela Locken, who stole his heart dancing the night away at Winnipeg’s hottest club back in the 80’s. Pam was Barry’s greatest love, his best friend, and he was so proud of the incredible artist she had become over the last few years.
Barry also leaves his daughter Karly (Jordan) Tidey; Son Jackson (Tiffany); as well as three grandchildren.
Barry enjoyed a successful career in many capacities, mainly in procurement management. As one of his employers stated, “Barry was a true gentleman…always smiling and full of enthusiasm, the creator and driving force behind the Legacy Fund- and party planner extraordinaire – he was a Legend.”
The greatest gift that Barry leaves us with is his passion for living each day to the fullest, with deep intention and loving kindness. He dedicated himself to caring for others, whether through acts of service like a home-cooked meal or words of encouragement.
Barry’s proudest achievement was becoming a grandfather; he saw this as his legacy.
The Clock of Life is wound but once
And no man has the power to tell just
when the hands will stop
On what day- or what hour.
Now is the only time you have.
So live it with a will;
Don’t wait until tomorrow,
The hands may then be still!
In accordance to Barry’s wishes, he has been cremated and a private celebration of life will be taking place.
