ERIC DANIEL LUSSIER
May 1, 1954 - November 10, 2023
Eric, you were loved and still you remain so very easy to love.
Eric died November 10th, 2023, at the Grace Hospice... and now, the rhythm of your heart keeps time in all those who loved you.
Eric was many things to many people. He was an accomplished musician, artistic director of Musik Barack Ensemble, and enjoyed the accomplishments of his students as much as his own, especially his nephews Aaron & Sean.
Not only a musician, his culinary skills were appreciated by many, and he delighted in exploring the world's foods. He also became a surrogate father to his niece Sarah, who often referred to him as 'her gay-gray dad'; a moniker he carried with pride.
About PRIDE; fifty years ago, society was in a very different place. Eric didn't set out to be courageous, but he chose to live his life authentically as is evidenced by his loving 20-year marriage to Chris.
He enjoyed travelling abroad and across Canada; but his best travel adventures were close by just walking his dog Finnegan.
Eric was predeceased by his parents Florence and Maurice. He leaves behind to celebrate his life, his husband Chris; siblings Claude (Therese), Mark (Eileen), and Jocelyn (Gordon); parents-in-law Joan & Ray; siblings-in-law Nancy (Jamie), James (January) and Christopher; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dearest friend Liz, and Joy.
Eric, thank you for the 50 years of friendship. Your compassion, generosity, and unlimited devotion to those close to you is a gift to us all. How lucky was I to have had the greatest friendship for so long.
Love you, Liz.
There will be a Celebration of Life at 2pm on Saturday November 25, at St. Mary's Road United Church (613 St. Mary's Road).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Eric's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
Eric's family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.
