MARGARET BOZEK

MARGARET HELEN BOZEK
December 12, 1940 – October 13, 2019

With great sadness we announce the death of Margaret on Sunday evening.  She died in the company of her children John and Lisa and nephew T’ai after a short stay at St. Boniface Hospital in the evening of Sunday October 13, 2019.

She leaves behind her two children John (Liz) and Lisa (Garth), three grandchildren Sam (Neha), Oliver and Sadie and sister Doreen (Don). She also leaves behind an extended family and many friends who supported over the last few years. She was preceded into death by her mother (Helen), father (John) and husband (Don).

Margaret loved seeing her family and enjoyed visiting them around the world, traveling to California, Wisconsin, Japan, and across Canada to visit.  Her most recent trip reunited her with her children and grandchildren in Moraga, California for the amazing celebration of the wedding of Sam and Neha where she was embraced as a revered elder and treated with kindness and love by her newly extended family.   Camping in her tent trailer was another of her great pleasures and she always looked forward to her annual trip to Caliper Lake with her husband.

Margaret was active in her community of Winnipeg and in the parish of St. Bernadette.  She was very involved with the Catholic Women’s League, TOPS and the YMCA where she gave her time and money.  Everyone around her experienced her kindness, generosity and her nonjudgmental acceptance and was better for knowing her.

The last few years were difficult for Margaret as her body failed, but her spirit never wavered.  She received great care from the Dialysis Care unit at Seven Oaks Hospital over the past few years and made friends with many of the Handi-Transit drivers who safely delivered and returned her three times a week for her treatments.

We’re sure that the thought of going through another winter, especially one starting so early with the snow last week, didn’t appeal to her.  Although she is gone, she’ll never be forgotten by those around her that she touched with her kindness and generosity.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 19, 2019 in St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Rd.
