It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son and cousin Chris McDonald at the age of 54 at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg.    Chris retained his positive attitude to living his best life and coped with the effects of Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy with dignity.

Chris was a compassionate, thoughtful, helpful, and caring person who will be missed by his many friends and relatives.

Chris leaves to mourn his Mother Jean, Uncle Bill, cousins Janice (Vince) and Bradley and Scott (Wendy), special family Fausto, Fran (Russell), Oscar, Isaac, and Maury.

Chris was predeceased by Father Gerry, Brother Stuart, Grandparents George and Pauline (Lena), Harvey and Beryl, Aunt Kathleen, Uncle George and cousin Marcy.

When Chris was growing up, he enjoyed participating in Beavers, Cubs and Scouts with 173rd Archwood Troop. He played soccer, football and street hockey. Chris loved sports. He was a season ticket holder for the Winnipeg Jets and is a big fan of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was a devoted follower of the Star Trek series and was an active collector of Star Trek memorabilia. Chris also enjoyed playing many video games.

Chris graduated from Windsor Park Collegiate. He attended the University of Manitoba where he graduated with a Master in Business Administration degree (MBA). Later, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. He started his career at KPMG, then worked for 19 years as Director of Finance at Marymound Inc., a Youth Social Services Organization in Winnipeg until he took Disability Pension this year.

Chris was also a successful small business person who with business partner Gabriele Cozzolino own Jerry’s Hair Salon and Day Spa and the Scotch Bakery in Winnipeg.

Chris maintained close contact with many of his school friends. They attended many Jets and Bombers games and enjoyed annual trips to Las Vegas.
