MCGREGOR, Ross - Obituary Photo.JPG

ROSS McGREGOR

June 6, 1943 - October 9, 2021

With broken hearts the family announces the passing of Ross, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Born in 1943 in East York, Ontario the son of the late Norman and Alice McGregor. Ross had a generous heart and touched many lives. His dogs, grandson and his cabin at Smokey Lake were the most important things in his life. Ross loved spending time with his dogs, fishing, taking pictures, videos and talking to everyone.

In 1973 he joined Poole Construction Company Limited as a carpenter in Fort McMurray. Ross traveled quite a bit in those years (Calgary, Yellowknife and Winnipeg). In 1977 he was off to Halifax. In 1979 Poole Construction changed its name to PCL Construction Ltd. He later returned to Winnipeg-which would become his home. In 1981 he was appointed superintendent. Over his 30 year career he completed many jobs from $5000 to $5 million. He enjoyed the relationships he made with customers, trades and his fellow workers.

He leaves behind son Scott (Kimberley); grandson Logan; and sister Norma. He will be missed by his fur buddies Krissy & Gabe. He will be lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews and many friends.

He is predeceased by his mother Alice; father Norman; sisters, Evelyn, Marjorie, Ethel, and Shirley; as well as brother John.

Many thanks to his neighbours and Curtis for the support over the years and being such a huge help though out his journey; you were always fondly talked about, and we are truly grateful you were there for him.

Cremation has taken place and a private scattering of ashes ceremony will be held at Smokey Lake.

Ross’s family kindly request that friends and family take a few minutes to honour his memory by posting a memory or story and any photos you wish to share.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that a donation in Ross’s memory be made to Manitoba Great Pyrenees Rescue at mgprescue@gmail.com
