DONNA MARIE BOITEAU

(née CALLAGHAN)

March 22, 1955 – December 12, 2020

It is with deep sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Donna, loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. With family by her side, she passed peacefully at home after a fierce but brief battle with cancer.

She was predeceased by her father, John Callaghan, her son Micky Syrota and sister Gerri Callaghan.  She leaves behind to mourn and with loving memories, her husband Guy Boiteau, her son Robbie Syrota (Cheryl), step-sons Desmond Boiteau and Bryce Boiteau, grandson Brennan Syrota, , grandson Dominique, granddaughter Natasha(Lily May) , sister Debbie Garand (Randy), sister Rhonda, brother Scott Callaghan , special friend and guardian Angel Wendy, as well as nieces and nephews, many long-time friends and her loyal furbabies, Sugar Ray and Tyson.

Donna was one of a kind with her quick Irish wit and her stubborn independence. She always kept busy ensuring her house was in order and everything in its place. She enjoyed her bargain shopping escapades with Wendy.

Donna grew up in Winnipeg, and moved to BC for a few years in the early 90s, then moved back to Winnipeg in 1996 to be closer to her son Robbie and grandson Brennan.  She worked at Loblaw’s (SuperStore), as a server at Pastels Restaurant for several years, at Place Louis Riel in Housekeeping and then for Edison Properties as a property manager, where she met the love of her life, Guy. Donna and Guy were married in 2009, and moved to Matlock, and built their forever home in 2018, where they raised their furbabies, Sugar Ray and Tyson, Donna’s prides and joys.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Gimli Hospital for their care and kindness during this difficult time.

As per Donna’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration will be held when we can safely come together. In the meantime, Donna's family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. They also encourage the sharing of photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

To the family of Donna, my heart goes out to you. I wish you comfort and peace. She was a wonderful human being and also an excellent property manager.  I am thankful that I  had the opportunity to get to know her.  She had a wonderful sense of humour and treated all with fairness. I missed her when she left here.

Donna and I both started new positions at the same time and worked together for years, I miss her all the time, she was more amazing than anyone fully knew. I'm happy knowing she had these last couple years with family and time to herself. Her energy will bring some pep to heaven❤

I have such fond memories of Donna.  She used to babysit my boys many years ago and they loved her so much.  She always had such a great sense of humour and was so kind to everyone.  You will be greatly missed Donna by everyone you knew. Rest in Peace.
