Cheryl and family, I'm so sorry to hear of John's passing. my thoughts are with you at this very difficult time .

Dear Cheryl and family,

We were so sorry to hear of John’s passing. His loss has brought back many warm memories of the time you lived in Sherwood Park.

John had a wonderful sense of humor. I still recall sitting on and breaking a lawn chair. Without missing a beat, he brought out a cream can with an old tractor seat welded to the top and said, “You won’t break that!”

He also had a gift for finding the best little back-alley restaurants. He will be fondly remembered.

It will be 60 years this fall that my late wife Shirley and I along with our infant son Eric moved into an apartment on Wardlaw Ave. At the time we were fortunate enough to meet wonderful neighbours. John, Cheryl and their infant daughter Deanna. I liked John right from the start. He always seemed to be pursuing some new interest and let me join in. Turning their kitchen into a makeshift darkroom or for some strange reason colouring light bulbs. I did find out that he didn’t like mice, dead or alive. I think he took great pleasure tapping on the radiator (at appropriate times) to remind us that our bedroom was directly above theirs. Over the years our lives went in different directions, but somehow we managed to stay in touch. Even if it was a number of years, John always greeted us as if we had just been chatting earlier in the day, so laid back. A great friend and just a marvellous person. I will truly miss you my friend.

My thoughts are with Cheryl and family.

So sorry for ur lose .John and i were co-workers , We knew each other for 57 yrs John was a great friend he was suposed to meet his co-workers for lunch on wednesday the 10th of june . Always loved to joke . Our concondolences to Cheryl and family !

Love to all the Deverdenne family at this sad time. Only happy memories and fond overseas stories of our eldest cousin John ( we knew him as Tony). Although miles apart we have always felt close to the Deverdenne's and have all enjoyed happy times with John and Cheryl whenever possible. Thinking of you all.

Aunty Cheryl and family,

I'm so sorry for your loss. He always looked like grandpa Paul to me. Keeping you all in my thoughts.

Dear Cheryl, Deanna, Tammie and families. Our condolences on the loss of your husband, father, and grandpa. As per John's request, we will make a charitable donation in memory of John, Marcelle and Lynne to the Canadian Cancer Society.

We were so shocked to hear of John's condition prior to his passing. Condolences to Cheryl and all the family.

I remember John when he attended St Thomas College in North Battleford as a teenager. He would come to our house to visit on occasion. Later I remember chatting with him when he was selling electronic equipment and I was working as a purchasing agent. Times we shared were memorable and he will be missed.
