Chris Dow

CHRISTOPHER GEORGE DOW
August 14, 1952 - February 26, 2026
A Photo Biography Video is forthcoming.
Please check back soon.
On February 26, 2026, the Lord called home his child, Chris Dow, at the age of 73.
Chris’ greatest joy in life was his family. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon; his three children and their spouses (Tracy & Nathan; Wesley & Cheryl; and Sherry & Leigh), and his 7 beloved grandkids (Noah, Lilliana, Dalia, Josiah, Natalia, Micah, & Judah), as well as extended family and friends.
In 1975, Chris joined the Winnipeg Police Service. He had endless stories of his 30 years of service. After retiring in 2004, Chris and Sharon moved to southern Alberta for 10 years before returning back home to Winnipeg.
Chris was a gentle giant. He gave everyone a nickname. He loved to laugh, crack jokes, and tell stories. He provided advice to all, requested or not. He also collected his “treasures” wherever he went. He loved listening to oldies, playing cards and learning about history.
In addition to family, friends, and his Saviour, Chris loved his “happy place” at Lee River - looking out at the water and wildlife, boating, swimming, and watching his family from the deck.
A celebration of life will be held at Grace Canadian Reformed Church (730 Pandora Ave West) on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 11:00 am.
Thank you to all of the medical staff who cared for him during his brief illness and over the last few years.

Sharon and children. Condolences on the passing into glory of your husband, father and grandfather.
God will give each one of you what is needed in the time ahead.
Many fond memories as neighbors and camping at Otter Falls together for years. Also, as we watch curling now we are reminded that we tried to win the curling championship as a couples team. But...we didn't. Thanks for the great memories.

My sincere condolences to Sharon and family
I have known Chris when I was a member of the Winnipeg police service when I was assigned as a detective in division 15 (St Boniface) . Chris was on general patrol and on occasion we connected with each other and we had some jovial conversations. In 2023 when my wife was ill Chris offered to help me during my trying time through text and social media. He was an exceptional human and caring person.

We are so sorry for your loss. May Our Lord comfort and strengthen you as you mourn the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. Please know that we are praying for you and grieve with you. What is our comfort in Life and Death? That I am not my own, but belong with body and soul, both in life and death to my faithful Saviour Jesus Christ. LD1.

Chris was one of the best! It seemed that our paths were destined to cross & keep crossing throughout our careers (and into retirement)! . We started at WPS the same day! Even our badge #'s were close (962 & 963). We partnered up 3 times! In general patrol, divisional traffic & Juvenile Detectives. We both married Sharon's, & had 3 kids! Chris was always the voice of reason and calm. He helped counter my agression with his calmness & humor! I loved his laugh & his view on life. I have so many fond memories, his sayings like "crotch rocket" (snowmobile), "gut bomb" (burger) etc.. His family always came first. His strong beleif in God was also a big part of who he was. A couple-few years ago he confided in me how of late he had become more spiritual and his faith in God was stronger! He wsn't pushy about his religion but for those he cared about he wanted them to know about how important this was. Chris was always a positive influence to me and everyone who knew him. He was a friend that I will miss. Sharon & I offer our deepest condolences to Sharon & the rest of his family. Chris it was am honor to be your friend.
