MICHELE JOY HARTLEY

September 5, 1963 – May 16, 2021

With heavy hearts, we announce that Michele Hartley passed away on May 16, 2021 in Riverview Health Centre at the age of 57 years.

She is survived by her mother Gloria Hartley, siblings Janet/Phil and Colette/John. Nieces, Stephanie, Leanne and Aimee. Nephews Ryan, Justin and Eric. Great nieces April and Ava and great nephew Kaleb and Khyson. Aunties, uncles, cousins and friends. Michele was predeceased by her father Norman Hartley and brother Blake, Paternal grandparents Lawrence/Anne Hartley, Maternal grandparents Benjamin/Albina Neault.

Michele was born and raised in Winnipeg. She graduated from Vincent Massey Collegiate in 1980. She worked at Pitt Leather Goods and then Kitchen Craft Cabinetry for many years.

She was dedicated in everything she did. She had an artistic talent as well. We always got her to do our drawings for us. Michele loved to travel with her little sister. We had great times together. She loved camping as well. Anyone who knew Michele well, knew she loved shopping. She could spend hours in the stores, Dollarama included. Her favourite music was Reggae Blues. Michele loved a good Tequila sunrise. She was a kind and loving person to everyone she knew.

Her adoration for her nieces and nephews was like no other. I think she was the biggest kid! She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Boniface Hospital. The palliative care team and the amazing doctors and nurses on the palliative ward 3 East ay Riverview Health Centre. Thank you so much for the extraordinary care and compassion.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In the meantime, Michele's family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. I used to live on Hudson Street very close to the Hartley's and the Smart's on Royce Avenue. I used to go over and play with Michele, Janet, Melody, and Odell. I remember we used to tie our skipping ropes to the light pole in front of the Smart's house and skip until it was dark. ☺ Michele was a very kind soul. I remember her beautiful smile and how positive she was all the time. I am so sorry to hear that she suffered. My deepest condolences to her entire family. Heaven just got a beautiful angel...💓😇💓

my side kick growing up! Teaching me how to garden, and I just wanted to help so much... I would pull the flowers/plants instead of weeds thinking they were weeds haha 😆  You always made me laugh especially when you said “can’t you just phone the internet?” 😂  I love you and I know you and your brother are watching over us. Both my God parents 🤍  Our souls will meet again one day 🥰

I had the privilege of knowing Michele, always had a smile on her face. She always seemed optimistic about life. Michele would help anyone out who needed it. We watched you suffer for so long, and now you can rest in peace. You will be missed. John Neufeld

Michele you will always be in my heart, you're my little sister.  Love you so much. I remember when you went to California when you were a kid you brought me back a jar of sunshine and a little hanging drawing of a sun in the jar. I loved it  , see you later honey. Ron ❤
