ROBERT (BOB) HAVELOCK

February 19, 1948 - December 16, 2019

With very heavy hearts, we announce that Bob passed away on December 16, 2019 at home with family at his side at the age of 71.  He truly was courageous in his battle with cancer and never gave up until the very end. He was a real fighter.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Rose of 49 years; children Cheryl (Kelvin) and Jason (Desiree); grandchildren Samantha (Matt), Brendan (Olivia), Amelia, Declan, and Luxton; his brother George; sisters-in-law Diane (Jerry) and Paula (Bryan); brothers-in-law Marcel (Edie), Robert (Barbara) and Paul (Deb), as well as many nieces and nephews. Bob is predeceased by his mom Mary Havelock and his sister Georgina (Jean) Havelock.

Bob spent his entire career working in the plumbing industry where he made many friends along the way. He was a long standing member of the Plumbers Local 254 when he retired. Bob was an extremely hard worker with exceptional mechanical aptitude.

He was always there for family and friends when they needed help. He was the go-to guy in the family and seemed to know how to, or would attempt to fix, improve or replace almost anything. He loved to work with his hands building wood work or projects that Rose had for him to do.  He was the first person you would call upon for advice or a solution to a problem. There wasn’t anything Bob couldn’t fix or a problem he couldn’t solve.

Bob and Rose did a lot of travelling throughout the years. They would almost always be with their travelling buddies, Robert and Barb.  They saw many sites and visited many places around the world including Honduras, Cozumel, Cancun, Mazatlan, Acapulco, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Hawaii, Germany, Rome, Venice and China. In most of the places they visited, they would be scuba diving and exploring the oceans.

Bob and Rose took numerous trips to North and South Dakota, whether it be for weekend visits or driving the motor home to the camp sites and casinos. And every month of February they would spend sun filled days in Florida with Robert and Barb. Bob always looked forward to Florida every year.

In 2004, they purchased a little cabin in Beresford Lake and spent the next 9 or so years fixing it up to their dream cabin. Every summer until Thanksgiving was spent at the cabin either working on it or just relaxing. Bob loved to tinker around the cabin making improvements to make it perfect as this is what he loved to do.

In 2016, they sold the cabin and bought a motor home and began the journey of travelling across Canada and heading up the Alaska highway to Whitehorse Yukon.

Bob always had a big heart filled with life and love and as much as he loved travelling, he loved spending every minute of it with his wife Rose. She is and always will be the sparkle in his eye!

Bob also loved spending time with his grandchildren. Playing, teaching and showing them all how things worked, how they were built and what to do when broken.

We would like to thank our amazing family and friends for their love and support. The family would love to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Gingerich, Palliative Care and the Homecare personal who all cared and did so much for Bob.

In lieu of flower, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, or to CancerCare Manitoba.

Friends and relatives are encouraged share memories, stories, and/or condolences for the family by using the comment section on this page.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road (Unitarian Church).
