It is with great love and sadness that the family of Keith announce his peaceful passing at Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Unit in Winnipeg on May 5, 2026 at the age of 78, following a lengthy cardiac illness. Keith was a deeply loved husband; father, brother, uncle and friend.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Heather of 35 years, his daughter Jana, brothers Michael (Margaret), Paul, and Geoff (Jennifer), brothers-in-law James (Karen), and Peter (Janet), nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and close friends who are like family. Keith was predeceased by his parents John (Jack) and Irene Reid and parents-in-law Oscar and Hazel Carlsson.

Keith was born and raised in Winnipeg and lived here for the majority of his life. Keith began his radio broadcasting career in 1966, working in Dauphin Manitoba, Sault Ste. Marie Ontario and then primarily in Winnipeg where he worked for over 20 years at CJOB as the Production Manager. He had an amazing distinctive broadcasting voice and greatly enjoyed his work. In the early 1990’s Keith began a new career working as an account manager with colleges and education training centres, arranging information technology training for government and corporate accounts. At times this involved travel to other provinces from Saskatchewan to Nova Scotia. Always the professional, he took his work very seriously and experienced accomplishment in both of these fields.

Keith enjoyed many summers at the beach and condo in Gimli. He became a strong lap swimmer, a passion he shared with daughter Jana. He appreciated a great workout, was a talented chef, played baseball, enjoyed bike and horseback riding, was a huge fan of most sports, especially the Winnipeg Jets and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Keith also enjoyed ballroom dancing, and it was here that he met his great love Heather. Keith was always well groomed and a true gentleman. Friends affectionately called him ‘tall, dark and suit’. Keith was an avid reader of mystery novels and enjoyed watching historical documentaries. Keith loved to travel. There are wonderful memories of vacations to Florida with friends and family, amazing trips to the mountains in Banff, Jasper and Clear Lake, and valued times with family in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario. In later years, Keith and Heather enjoyed special weekly movie nights with close friends. Keith was extremely supportive of Heather’s Nursing and Leadership career.

One of Keith’s greatest sources of pride was his daughter, Jana. Despite distance, they had a close relationship and Keith spent much time planning for Jana’s visits each year. Keith was a proud Canadian, a sentiment that he instilled in his daughter. Jana will always remember her dad’s radio voice, his kind and gentle demeanor and his friendliness toward all those who had the pleasure of his company.

Keith persevered through his years of cardiac disease. In his final years, as his health gradually declined, his spirit never diminished. He remained deeply interested in people, enjoyed visits and conversations with family and friends. Keith continued with his optimism, his positive approach and appreciation for life. It was a time for Keith and Heather to cherish their memories of a great love and life together.

Our hearts are filled with gratitude for the numerous years of care provided by family physicians Dr. Brian Sharkey and Dr. Beshowy Metias, cardiologist Dr. Amrit Malik, along with several other cardiologists and nurses of St. Boniface Heart Function Clinic.

The family extends our sincere gratitude to the nurses, physicians, and respite caregivers of the Community Palliative Care Program and to the wonderful staff at Riverview Health Centre Palliative Care Unit for their kind, gentle and compassionate care of Keith in his last few days.

We are very appreciative to all family and friends who have been incredibly helpful, supportive and caring through the last few years of Keith’s health journey. Keith’s legacy lives on in the values he quietly modeled as a kind, gentle, thoughtful, respectful, and compassionate person with devotion to family and friends.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service and celebration of Keith’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026 at Whyte Ridge Baptist Church, 2405 McGillivray Blvd, Winnipeg, with Pastor Troy Selley of Oasis Church officiating. A light reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to one of Keith’s favourite charities, the Winnipeg Humane Society or to a charity of your choice.
