GLENN WILLIAM THOMSON

January 5, 1967 – February 23, 2026

It is with the deepest sorrow to announce the passing of Glenn at the age of 59. He had fought a brave battle against cancer but had lost the war. He passed away peacefully at home with loved ones by his bedside.

A Celebration of life will be held at the Viscount Gort Hotel on March 29th, 2026 from 1 to 4 PM.

Glenn is survived by his Partner Dalmar (Del); Mother Astrid; Brother Blair; Daughter Paige; Grand Daughter Gia; Niece Samantha & Nephew Logan; as well as his furry feline family Xena & Tiffany. He was predeceased by his father William in 2022.

We would like to extend our thanks to his many friends, especially Andy, Johnny, James, Pat, Sean, and Dean who have kept in touch during his illness.

Glenn was born in Winnipeg and grew up in the west end part of the city. He attended Greenway, General Wolfe and Tech Voc schools, and was active in sports, sponge hockey, football, tennis at Orioles Community Club. He made many lifelong friends along the way! After graduating from Tech Voc Glenn worked for a while welding, repairing and maintaining equipment, he did this for a short period of time.

He changed career paths and decided to go to Red River Community College where he studied and became an apprentice HVAC technician. He did this for a few years while working in the industry, eventually he received his journeyman ticket, this was a very proud time.

Glenn went to Thompson to work for a while then returned to Winnipeg, he enjoyed his work with various companies and many of his coworkers became his friend as Glenn had a great sense of humor and was fantastic to be around. He retired in May 2026. Glenn was the go-to person when his family and friends had problems with their furnace and air conditioner. He loved working as a HVAC technician and took pride in his work.

He loved to travel to warmer climates during the colder months. He also enjoyed his weekend trips down to the United States to check out concerts as he loved listening to all different types of music.

Glenn became a boxing enthusiast and decided to take up boxing at the Pan Am Boxing Club. There he made new friends. In addition, he attended many boxing events in Las Vegas and had a passion for the sport of boxing.

Glenn will be deeply missed by all and remembered with love. Glenn cherished all of his friendships dearly.

Thank you to the palliative care team who took great care of Glenn at home.

To Del and Family, my heart and prayers goe out to all of you during this most difficult time. My wife and I knew Glenn from Pan Am Boxing and also through many visits to our house, repairing, cleaning our furnace and eventually installing the furnace and air conditioner we have in our home today. At Pan Am Boxing, Glenn was know as 'The Bear', a nickname we gave him because of his size and gentle approach he had with everyone. He had a great sense of humour and everyone gravitated to 'The Bear'. Glenn you are missed and we love you. Unfortunately my wife and I will be on vacation at the time you will be having his Celebration of Life. He will be in our thoughts that day.

Rossi (also known as Tom and Mrs. Rossi also known as Sharon) This is how. Glenn knew us!
