With heavy hearts, we announce that Kathy passed away on Sunday December 5, 2021 unexpectedly in her sleep in at the age of 76 years.

 

Kathy is survived by her husband Ken of 48 years; daughter Karen Richard (Joe); son Richard Park (Suzanne); grandchildren, Kristin Richard, Sydney Richard, Ryan Park, and Juliana Park; sister Jean Eunson; brother-in-law David Park (Nina); and numerous extended family and friends.

 

Kathy was predeceased by her parents Yvonne and Wilfred Laliberte, her brother August (Joan), sister Jeanette Pilon (Andrew), brothers Emile, Rene, brother-in-law Bill Eunson and mother and father in-law Mary and Richard Park.

 

Kathy grew up in St. Vital where she live all her life except for one year when her and Ken moved to Transcona. It didn’t take her long to realize St. Vital was her forever home and she moved back as soon as she could. She attended Lavallee school and left school at an early age to go to work. She worked at St. Amant Centre, St. Vital School Division, and retired her work career with over 25 years at Meadowood Manor Personal Care Home as a housekeeper (Moptoligist). But she soon realized that retirement wasn’t for her and she went back to work for a few more years at Foyer Valade Personal Care Home. She was a hard worker, loved all the places she worked and most of all she loved all the close relationships she made with co-workers.

 

Kathy was a people person. She loved being with family and friends. Her favorite was getting together with family enjoying good food and playing cards. She also loved playing bingo and going to the casino. Back in the day she was known as the life of the party, she always made us laugh and she loved to dance and listen to Elvis, country music, and fiddling. She loved to travel and was able to fulfill her dreams by visiting Graceland, Las Vegas and Bermuda. She was a huge Winnipeg Jets fan she rarely missed a game; she was devastated when they moved to Phoenix back in 1996 and she was ecstatic when they came back in 2011. She loved going to the games in person whenever she had a chance. She also liked the Blue Bombers. She didn’t understand the game but that didn’t stop her from cheering for them.

 

Kathy’s pride and joy were her grandchildren. It didn’t matter what she was doing if she was asked to babysit, she was always there even if it was for a week, she would drop everything to be with them. When Juliana was born just over a year ago, she was thrilled to have a new baby to spoil. She loved going to watch and cheer them on in all their activities they took part in whether it be Tae Kwon Do, swimming, baseball, dance, and of course her favorite hockey. She was always one of the loudest spectators in the stands whether it was watching Kristin at a Tae Kwon Do tournament or watching Richard, Sydney or Ryan play hockey.

A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 20, 2021 at St. Emile Roman Catholic Church, 556 St. Anne’s Road. Reception and internment to follow.

 

All are required to ask for proof of double vaccination as well as photo ID from all attendees as per the Government of Manitoba Health Orders to attend the memorial service. Masks are required.
