Jeannette was born on September 30, 1939 at St. Boniface Hospital Winnipeg Manitoba and has lived in Winnipeg for her entire 80 years.

Jeannette was a strong woman with a vibrant personality who loved the outdoors.

She spent her early years camping, hunting and fishing with her husband Pete and was not afraid to get her hands dirty.

She loved her yard and could be found bare foot playing in the mud in her garden, cutting and pruning flower’s or making sure the bird bath was clean and full for the birds.

She enjoyed Baking and canning vegetables from the garden and was known for making the best pickles and salsa in town!

In the early 80’s her and her husband Pete joined The Norwood Legion. She spent countless hours volunteering her time with the Women’s Auxiliary. Amongst her many, many accomplishments with the legion and the women’s auxiliary, poppy drive’s, fundraisers, and conferences where she could acquire a new pin is when she was the happiest. She loved working on her uniform polishing her shoes, sewing on medals and buttons until it was perfect.

In the last few years of her life Jeannette was fighting many ailments however she never found the time to complain. Instead she did what she wanted when she was able.

A special thanks to Faye, a devoted friend who always offered support and a helping hand in Jeannette’s last years.

I’M FREE

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard his call,
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I've found that peace at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My Life's been full, I savoured much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch,

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
