REILLY, Roberta - Obituary Photo_edited.png

January 11, 1933 – December 6, 2022

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Roberta Reilly, at Grace Hospital Winnipeg, surrounded by family.

Left to cherish her memory, sons Grant (Kelly), Cam (Donna), Ron (Grant), grandchildren Terry, Taylor (Sasha), Kelsey (Brayden), Andrew (Cassandra), Noah, Jordyn (Shane), great grandchild Preston.  Sister to Sheila Martyn of Lethbridge, AB and Aunt Robbie to many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by husband Bill (2014) and eldest son Greg (2004).

Mom was born in Winnipeg at the old Grace Hospital.  At the age of 3, with parents (Robert and Alma Beattie) and older sister (Rita) moved to Thunder Bay where her father managed a model mink farm.  Sisters Donna and Sheila were born in the years following.  Shortly after high school, Mom ventured to the big city of Toronto, returning home to Thunder Bay after a few years.  In search of work, her and good friend Norma found their way to Winnipeg.  It was here she met Dad and married in the summer of 1960.  It wasn’t long before the first boy was born, followed by 3 more.  Mom and Dad had their hands full to say the least.  With Dad a locomotive engineer and often on the road – Mom was quickly promoted to CEO of the household.  We have many fond memories of our years growing up in Windsor Park where Mom and Dad juggled schedules in support of all our activities – never a dull moment in our household.  Raising four boys was not an easy task and Mom could often be heard declaring “oh boy, just wait until your father gets home”!

In retirement Mom and Dad embraced selling the family home and made the move to condo living where they enjoyed being a part of the close-knit community.  Many winters were enjoyed travelling in their fifth wheel to Arizona and Texas where they enjoyed the company of their group of railroad friends.  After Dad’s passing Mom opted for a more care free living at Seine River Retirement Residence.  For 7 years she enjoyed her peaceful view of the Seine River and the abundant wildlife that would often feed right outside her patio door.  Here she looked forward to her regular visits with her family and keeping up with all our activities.  We were comforted by the wonderful care she received here, a huge thank you to all the staff at Seine River Retirement Residence.

We would like to thank the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and Health Care Aides at Grace Hospital for their warmth and care of Mom over the past 3 months.

One of Mom’s greatest gifts was her beautiful smile that could light up a room.  We were blessed to be recipients of her smile at each and every one of our hospital visits.  Those caring for Mom would often comment on how generous she was with her smiles.  As we spoke with her Nurse for the last time, she advised upon recently reviewing her care file the notation that stood out was “Lovely Lady”

A family interment is planned.
