Jimmy Salter
ROBERT JAMES
(JIM/JIMMY) SALTER
October 11, 1958 - November 4, 2022
Robert James Salter passed away suddenly on November 4, 2022, at the age of 64.
He is survived by his daughter, Amber (Bradley); step-mother, Mary-Ann; siblings, Doug, Barry (daughter, Sherri-Lea), Glenda (Dan) and Danny. Jimmy had numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and lifelong friends that were family.
He is predeceased by his parents, Marlo and Ronald and his brother, Stevie.
Jimmy was the second oldest child in blended families of 7 children, and raised in Winnipeg, MB, where he lived his whole life.
Some of Jimmy’s favourite pastimes, included; camping, fishing, enjoying beers with company by the fire, cooling off in the pool and relaxing in the sun.
Jimmy is well known for his incredible kindness, being a great friend to everyone he encountered, his love of cats and love of all fur-babies he met.
His laugh was contagious and always brought a smile to the face of anyone who heard it. Working as a support worker for 33 years was more than a job to Jimmy.
It was a calling, where he was appreciated and respected by everyone he worked with. Jimmy was a huge fan of the Blue Bombers and the Winnipeg Jets, enjoying watching games with friends and family.
A celebration of life is to be held in May 2023 in Winnipeg, followed by internment at Riding Mountain Cemetery with a small reception.
A special thank you to Hook and Smith Barristers, the Burch family, Ethical Death Care and Winnipeg Emergency Services for their assistance during the loss of our loved one.
Jimmy’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.
