GREGORY ALLAN SMITH

May 8, 1957  - February 18, 2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Greg (Smitty) Smith on Thursday February 18th at the age of 63. Greg is survived by his wife Kim and sons Matthew and Jeffrey as well as his mother Doreen, brother Murray (Donna) and sister Nancy (Larry Fleece) Greg was predeceased by his father Clarence and his brother Gary. Greg also leaves to mourn many cousins, nieces and nephews. Greg loved his family and his loyal dog “Buddy”.

Greg was born in Carberry Manitoba and grew up in St. James where he made lifelong friendships.

Greg’s love of all sports was evident to all who knew him. Coaching his boys in hockey and playing baseball in the Crestview Mens Fastball League, hockey with the Dukes Hockey Club , curling, English billiards, and probably his most favorite, golf.  He loved to golf and many people would watch in horror as they witnessed the ferocity of his golf swing.  Yes, Greg was a fierce competitor who was happiest playing any sport. When not playing, you could find Greg at a rink watching hockey or curling, or, in the summer, watching baseball, any baseball, whether he knew the kids or not!

Greg leaves behind countless friends and we are all blessed to have known him.  His generosity and real human interest was unprecedented and is evident by the lives he has touched.

He leaves a void that’s impossible to fill.

We’ll sure miss the “rib eyes” and red wine!

RIP Smitty.
