LESLIE MARIE SMITH

(née KORNEY)

July 7, 1958 - July 17, 2021

Leslie Marie Smith, beloved wife of Terrance, passed away on July 17, 2021, in the Grace Hospice at the age of 63.

Leslie was born to Helen and Joseph Korney, on July 7, 1958, in Preeceville, Saskatchewan. Leslie grew up in Endeavour, Saskatchewan as the middle child of five children.

Leslie is survived by her husband Terrance Smith; sons, Curtis Smith (Tara) and Parker Smith (Brenna); mother Helen Korney; siblings, Abby Holmberg (Alan), Karen Downs, Cindy Greba (Dwight), and Rodney Korney; as well as grandchildren, Ireland, Larkyn, Hunter, Kane, Maddox, Kohen and Easton. She was predeceased by her father Joseph Korney.

Leslie enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and having fun. She could never pass up a good prank on Halloween or masterminding a good joke with her sisters and friends. She took pride in her appearance and in her younger years decided she would pierce not only her own ears but the earlobes of many in town using a sewing needle and clothes pin. She loved animals but her favorite animal by far was a dog. She would sometimes bring home strays and try to convince her parents to keep it. Leslie was loyal, and fiercely stood up for her friends and family. She never backed down from what she believed in and always spoke her mind.

Leslie loved to cook. She enjoyed it so much that she decided to take her passion into her workplace. She worked at Pasta and More for seven years. Leslie later worked as a cook and housekeeper at the Misericordia Hospital, retiring 12 years later, in 2008.

Leslie enjoyed antiques and had an eye for decorating inside and out. She loved vintage jewellery and always managed to find unique pieces to add to her collection. She loved to cook and everyone she knew enjoyed her amazing food. She loved music and could not resist turning up the volume and welcoming her sons’ home from school to her dancing and singing a great tune. Her biggest passion was her sons. She was a homemaker who took pride in her sons and in giving them a loving home full of strength and security. As her children grew and had families of their own, she continued to enjoy being involved in her grandchildren’s lives and being a big part of their upbringing. She could never pass up a sleep-over with her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved her grandchildren dearly.

Leslie met Terrance Smith in 1975. They were married on October 8,1977 in Preeceville. Together they raised two children, Curtis John Smith and Parker Andrew Smith.

In keeping with Leslie's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private celebration of her life will be held when it is possible to gather.
