Peacefully, on January 29, 2018, Laudalina da Conceicao Varao passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 82.

 

She is survived by her children, Lina (& John); Mario, & Manuela (& Randy); her grandchildren, Christopher, Aaron, and Adrielle; her great-grandchildren, Olivianna, Anton, and one yet to be born.

 

She was predeceased by her mother, Luiza Galego (2005), her brother, Eduardo Tavares (2012), and her ex-husband, Jose Varao (2017).

 

Laudalina was born October 12, 1935 in Portugal.  She and her family immigrated to Canada in 1967 and settled in Winnipeg.  She found work as a seamstress, and also cleaned homes in order to support her family.  She blessed many people with her fine Portuguese cooking and her hospitality.  She will be dearly missed.

 

A celebration of her life will be held at 1 pm Monday, February 5, 2018 at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Winnipeg located at 603 Wellington Cres. (at Academy Rd.). Interment will be in Assumption Cemetery.
