PATRICIA JOAN WAYTOWICH

August 31, 1942 – February 20, 2021

With heavy hearts, we announce that Patricia Joan Waytowich, Mom, passed away at the Health Sciences Center, on Saturday, February 20, 2021.

Mom joins her Husband Ted of 56 years; parents, Jean and Dr. James A. McLeod; and sister Carol.

She will be missed immensely by her children, Jim (Joanne), and Brenda (Hans), three grandchildren,  Cassandra (Byron), Victoria, and Hunter, as well as her fur baby Teddy.

Mom was born August 31, 1942, in Winnipeg.  She attended Balmoral Hall and Gordon Bell High School where she met Ted.  They were a dynamic couple who brought fun and laughter wherever they went.

Mom had a few jobs over the years; her first was at Eaton’s, where her love for shoes began.  She was a school bus driver, a limousine driver for Birchwood Motors, and she even owned & operated a Make A Friend teddy bear franchise.

Mom was a member of the Order of Eastern Star for many years, becoming  Worthy Matron for St. James Chapter #25.

She spent countless hours with Brenda going to Job’s Daughters activities, and attended Ted’s baseball and Jim’s hockey games.

Mom was multi-talented, teaching herself to knit and crochet. This led to many blankets for family and friends. She could do any craft project.

Mom enjoyed travelling with family all over Europe (especially England and Italy), spending winters in Arizona with Jim & Joanne.  Her granddaughters remember a very special week spent in Paris with Nana.  A time mom cherished with her girls.  Mom was extremely proud of all three grandchildren who she loved dearly.

Hosting dinners for family & friends filled mom with great happiness. Baking was an expression of her love which will be missed.  Especially her cinnamon coffee cake.

Thank you to mom’s many friends who gave her lots of love and laughter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Joan to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba.

Little did we know that morning
Someone would call your name
In life we loved you dearly
In death we do the same
It broke our hearts to lose you
You did not go alone
For part of us went with you
the day you chose your new home.
You left us wonderful memories
Your love is still our guide
Although we cannot see you
You are always by our side
Our friendship chain is broken
And nothing seems the same
But as we are called one by one
The chain will link again.

A celebration of her Patricia's will take place when restrictions allow, and the weather has improved. In the meantime, Patricia’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above.
