LOIS ABBOTT

July 29, 1929 –  December 28, 2021

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Lois Abbott on December 28, 2021 at the age of 92.

Lois was born on July 29, 1929 in Winnipeg.  She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Sandra (Elias) and Nancy (Jason); and her granddaughter Taylor. She will also be missed by her step son Greg (Carol-Ann); grandchildren Jenna and Ryan; sister in law Gwen (Don); and niece Beverley.

As a young woman, Lois worked for the Great West Life Insurance Company.  She left the work force to raise her daughters and many years later returned to work for the Federal Government at Statistics Canada retiring in 1995.

Lois enjoyed family holidays travelling to Hawaii, Florida & Kelowna.  Over the years, there were many weekend road trips to North Dakota, which she preferred, as there was no flying involved.

Even though Lois was a few months shy of 80 when Taylor was born, there was a very special bond between the two despite the significant age gap.  Gran jumped right in helping with late night feedings, diaper changes, laundry and play time.  It brought a youthfulness to her soul and a smile to her face that would light up the room.

Lois recently moved to the Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home where her big personality made a bigger impact on those who helped care for her.  She will be dearly missed & fondly remembered by many of the staff members who were so kind & compassionate particularly in her final days.  A special thank you to Station 3 nurses Shawna & Valerie and all of the staff that provided exceptional care over the past few years.

Respecting Mom's wishes, there will be no formal service.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Lois' memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of one's choice.
