GEORGE ANASTASIADIS

December 4 ,1948 - December 2, 2019

On December 2, 2019, George Anastasiadis, passed away peacefully in the Riverview Heath Centre at the age of 70 years.

He is loved and will be sadly missed by his sons, Andreas (Chelsey), Thomas, Granddaughter Lyla, sister-in-law Polixeni, Nieces, Nephews, cousins and friends.

George was born in the small town of Platy (Greece) the youngest of three brothers and two sisters. He Moved to Canada in 1966, at the age of 17, and began his working career painting with his oldest brother (Konstantinos) while learning the English language. George then travelled west to northern Alberta and worked as a painter before moving to British Columbia where he got a taste for the restaurant business. He came back to Winnipeg where he and his brothers opened a few of their own.

Despite the grueling schedule of the restaurant business George taught the boys how to skate (amazingly without being able to skate himself) which turned into shuffling kids and hockey bags around town to various games and tournaments.

George worked hard his whole life and when he retired, he spent a lot of time getting to know his granddaughter, Lyla.

He also spent a lot of time in his hometown of Platy, Greece with his sister (Despina). He would sit for hours in the beautiful marble porch which overlooks the expansive garden of flowers and fruit sipping Greek coffee.

George will always be loved and remembered for his positivity, kindness, graciousness and unwavering loyalty to family and friends.
