BRIAN MITCHELL ANGUS

Brian Mitchell Angus of Brandon Manitoba died at the age of 85 on November 23, 2023

Those who knew Brian would immediately describe him as kind. He had a big and generous heart. He never lost his sense of humor, even near the end.

Brian grew up in Marriott, Saskatchewan and spent most of his life living in different places across western Canada and the Yukon. He lived in Thompson Manitoba from 1983 to 2021 before moving to Brandon.

In Thompson, he worked in management and labor relations for a security company at the Nickel Mine. Many of his former employees say they’ve never worked for a nicer boss. He was tough, but always fair.

Brian lived an interesting life. He was an amazing cook and loved sharing his food and recipes (some very creative ones too). He enjoyed a good road trip, hunting in his younger years and visiting museums for his love of history.

He liked steam trains. He often shared his incredible knowledge of airplanes (B29 - his favorite). His favorite animals were owls and wolves. He loved classic country music and if you were lucky, you heard him sing. He could really sing.

Brian spent many years volunteering and advocating for people battling and recovering from addiction. He was always willing to help those in need.

He was predeceased by his wife, Dawn(2011) Father, Layton (1981) Mother, Isobel (2017) and his brother Jack, (1990)

He will be dearly missed by his family. He is survived by his five children, Holly Demeres (Mike), Alex Angus, Shevaun Ward (Randy), Laura Nelson, and Christie Angus (Greg); eight Grandchildren, many great grandchildren; his last remaining brother, Jim Angus; and 5 nieces and nephews.

Brian’s wishes were to have a private family gathering to honor his memory. There will be no public service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Thompson homeless shelter.
