GREGORY KEVIN BRANDT

March 2, 1976 - March 26, 2019

Greg Brandt passed away unexpectedly at the Ottawa Hospital on Tuesday, March 26th, 2019 at the age of 43 years.

Greg is survived by his beloved daughter Brooke, and her mother Janice of Winnipeg; his brother Randall (Kathryn) Brandt of Lethbridge; sister Noreen (Rudy) Loewen of Winkler; As well as his twin brother Gary Brandt of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents Norman and Inge Brandt.

Greg was born March 2, 1976 just minutes after his identical twin brother Gary. He attended Lord Selkirk Elementary and Elmwood High School. He obtained his autobody certificate from Red River College.

Growing up Greg was a natural athlete and spent hours with his brothers playing hockey on their backyard rink. He was an avid Bombers and Jets fan and occasionally attended live games to cheer them on. He enjoyed watching any kind of sports on TV with his father. He was also a great fisherman and spent a lot of time at Eleanor Lake with family and friends reeling in the pickerel.

His first job was at Pal’s Supermarket. After graduating from college he worked in autobody, and was handy to have around if ever you got a scratch on your vehicle. He returned to grocery and worked many years as a meat cutter at Sobey’s. He was always trying out a new recipe on the grill.

Greg attended the Concordia Church of God. As an adult he worked with the Youth Group and occasionally was asked to provide the sermon at Sunday service.

When his daughter Brooke was born it was love at first site, and as a new father he seemed to have that special touch with her. Greg’s face always lit up when he talked about her, and he cherished the time they spent together – she was his pride and joy. Greg also provided much care and support to both his parents which allowed them to remain in their own home throughout their times of illness. He will be forever remembered for his great sense of humour, his optimistic outlook, and his caring nature.

A private family graveside service will be held. Greg will be laid to rest alongside his parents in Elmwood Cemetery.

How deep the Father’s love for us,

how vast beyond all measure

That He should give His only son,

to make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,

the Father turned his face away

As wounds which mar the Chosen One,

bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,

my sin upon His shoulders

Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice,

call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there,

until it was accomplished

His dying breath has brought me life,

I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything: no gifts,

no power, no wisdom

But I will boast in Jesus Christ,

His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?

I cannot give an answer

But this I know with all my heart,

His wounds have paid my ransom

Why should I gain from His reward?

I cannot give an answer

But this I know with all my heart,

His wounds have paid my ransom.
