NEIL DONLEY

September 9, 1950 - January 25, 2020

Neil passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020 in the Riverview Health Centre after a valiant three-year battle with neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer. He was 69.

A quiet man with a strong sense of independence and determination, he was often referred to as “a nice guy”. He enjoyed fishing with friends in his well-cared for old boat, building and flying radio controlled model aircraft, rollerblading, hot air ballooning, and an occasional flight in a glider. His rich baritone voice lent itself to various quartets and choral groups and he especially loved playing his gleaming tuba with a number of bands over the years. After a career of 43 years at Service Canada, Neil retired in 2015. He and Georgie then enjoyed some lovely trips to BC to visit family. Throughout his cancer ordeal, Neil’s inner strength and courage were an inspiration to us all. Rest in peace, dear Neil. You will be missed.

Neil is survived by Georgie, his wife of 38 years, sons Sean, John, daughter Lisa, brother Evan (Barb) and sister Fran Okihiro, along with their families. He will be greatly missed by his adoring Pomeranian, Phoebe. Neil was predeceased by his parents, Allen and Jean, and sister Ada Lownds.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
