KENNETH JAMES JOSEPH FLEURY

September 8, 1954 - October 22, 2020

In loving memory of Ken, who passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer on October 22, 2020.

Ken was born in Russell, MB, grew up in Binscarth, Manitoba, attended K-9 school in Binscarth and graduated from Major Pratt Collegiate in Russell. After graduation, Ken worked for a security company in Winnipeg training German Shepherds as Guard dogs. Ken then moved to Prince Albert and lived with Elie and Therese and family while working store security at the Hudson's Bay store and also working at a personal Care Home with his sister-in-law Therese as an Orderly. Ken then began employment with Correctional Service of Canada where he worked at Saskatchewan Penitentiary as a correctional officer for nine years. Ken then moved home to Manitoba living in Brandon and Winnipeg. Ken worked at Ma Mawi, Indigenous community service provider for 9 years as Coordinator. Ken then began employment with the Native Clan organization as Executive Director for 8 years up until his last months. Ken's passion was music, and being an accomplished guitarist, entertained many friends and family throughout the years.

Although he had only 11 short years with his daughter, Ken and Dayna shared a love for music and singing. There was nothing that gave Ken more pride and joy than being her father. It is unfortunate that Ken wasn't able to tell Dayna how much he loved her, prior to his passing. In the last 3 ½ months of his life, Donnie and Georgina opened up their hearts and their home to Ken making him as comfortable as possible. Ken enjoyed spending time reminiscing with the family and friends that visited him in his final few months.

Ken is survived by his daughter Dayna, who filled his heart with joy; brother Elie (Therese); sister Doreen (Red); Sister-in-law Carol; brother Donnie (Georgina); brother Terry (Brenda) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ken was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Mary Fleury, baby brother Joseph and older brother Stan Fleury.

Ken's wishes are to have a celebration of life in the summer of 2021 at the hall in Binscarth, Manitoba. Service arrangements will be announced by the family at a later date.
