GERALDINE ANNIE FRASER

(née O’NEILL)

June 4, 1924 - Dec. 24, 2020 

With heavy hearts, we announce that Geraldine died peacefully on Christmas Eve, 2020 at St. Norbert PCH. She had resided in Winnipeg, with her daughter and her family, since 1997.

 
Born in Sudbury, ON to John Raymond O’Neill and Mary Alma Regina “Queena” (Croteau), Geraldine was predeceased by her siblings, John Barry (Eileen Mulligan), Terrence Joseph (Madeleine Parent), Nancy Jayne (Charles Major); her Husband, Robert Holden Fraser; and his Son, Roderick. 

 

Surviving Geraldine is her Cousin, Father Joseph Moffatt, CSB; Daughter, Mary Catherine Anne (O’Neill) Salki (Alex); Grandson Kevin Salki (Christie Murray), Granddaughter Jennifer O’Neill-Salki (William Heil); Great-Granddaughters, Elizabeth Geraldine Salki and Penelope Rose Heil; her Stepchildren, Beverley Kirkland (Jack), Stuart Fraser (Monique Tardif) and Heather Borgan (Steve); her Stepgrandchildren, Cathy, Stephen, Christopher, Jacqueline, Matthew and Kerri; and, her many Nieces and Nephews, for all of whom she had a deep love, Angela (Jeff Polowin), Stephen (Shirley), Raymond, D’Arcy O’Neill; Suzy (J-M Dube), Michael O’Neill (Lise), Monica O’Neill, Martha Montgrain; Patrick, Paul (Michelle Tracy), Andrea MacTavish (Bill), Charlie (Christina Finley), Josee (Michael Yanover), and Chrystopher Major.  


Geraldine worked for 32 years in Ottawa, first at Munitions & Supply before becoming an Administrative Officer with National Health and Welfare. Nora Connelly, her dearest friend and co-worker, kept in touch with Gerry until near her end.

 
In the service of others, was the essence of Geraldine’s spirit, her raison d’être, providing comfort, security, and unconditional love to whomever was in need, regardless of self.  
Oh, that smile, those hugs!

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a memorial donation could be made to one of Siloam Mission or Winnipeg Humane Society in memory of Geraldine Fraser and Tickles. 


In accordance with Geraldine’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Geraldine’s life will be held post-Covid, when she returns home for interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, in Almonte, ON.
