LAWRENCE WILLIAM HAIN

June 4, 1961 – August 26, 2023

It is with a shattered heart that I wish to announce that my darling son died in his 62nd year, at St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care, on August 26, 2023, after a courageous 2½ year battle with cancer.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, George and Elly Fullum. Lawrence is survived by mom Shirley Hain; cat Smudge; and father Emil Hain of Victoria, BC. He will also be missed by his close friends, Raymond Gheeraert and his sons, Nolan (Laura) and Tyler (Danielle); by Raymond Reinsch of Calgary, Larry Tanner, and Richard Krampetz.

Lawrence worked at Winnipeg Transit for 39 years and had many friends there. He retired four years ago and had planned to spend his time fishing, camping, and riding his motorcycle. Going back to Sturgis was in his plans too. When he was young, he loved motocross racing on his dirt bike, especially at the Austin track.

Lawrence was mechanical and could fix any motor. He was intelligent, quick-witted, and had a great sense of humour.

My Lawrence was a loving son and a loyal and helpful friend. I was a single parent since he was one year old. He will be so very missed by me and by all those who knew and cared for him.

Thanks to the doctors and staff at CancerCare, at Victoria Hospital, and the caregivers at St. Boniface Palliative Care.

Lawrence loved cats and had many. Please send contributions to D’Arcy’s ARC, Craig Street Cats, or to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Dusty, Tippy, Baby, Blackie, Mite, Saffron, and Smudge will thank you.

Special thanks to loving friends, Ray and Lucie, Tyler and Danielle, Ellen and Ray, Donna, Larry and Jordan.

Cremation has taken place and the family is planning a memorial service sometime in October of 2023. If you are interested in being notified of the details, please send an email to Lhfriends2023@gmail.com.
