TREVOR HUTCHINS

Peacefully, in the early morning hours of Friday, May 5th, 2023, Trevor Hutchins passed away and entered the presence of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, finally released from the disease that robbed him of so many years. 

Trevor is survived by his sister-in-law Margaret and nephews, Michael, Peter, and Roger. He was predeceased by his parents, and brothers Jasper and Roger, and many relatives in England.

Trevor was born, September 26th, 1953 in Norwich England. After his school years he earned a degree to become a government administrator. But his life went in a different direction when, as a young man, he dedicated his life to Christ and began his journey to be in full time Christian ministry. Trevor attended Capenwray Torchbearer Bible School in Northern England and shortly after came to Canada and earned his Bachelor of Theology at Canadian Mennonite University. He began his ministry as a student pastor at Home Street Church. He continued his education in religious studies and eventually earned his masters degree in theology at Providence Theological Seminary. 

Trevor helped to plant Good News Church and pastored there for eight years. Following his time at Good News Church he held the position of Care Pastor at Riverwood Church Community for almost ten years before his health declined. 

Trevor had a passion to serve and ministered to others out of a joyful heart. He was loyal and so committed to the ministries that meant so much to him; Alpha, Adopt-a-Block, Prayer, Frontline, and Care Ministries at Riverwood. He was always so happy to care for those that needed support and encouragement. He had a wonderful warmth and sense of humour and anyone that knew Trevor could see that the joy of the Lord was his strength. He was so sincere and genuine in his faith and lived it out every day. He formed many valued relationships and will be dearly missed by his closest friends.

Trevor loved music, especially the old hymns.  He had such a heart for worship and enjoyed playing piano. He followed British sports and really enjoyed cheering on his favourite teams in Britain and Canada. Trevor was also passionate about bird watching and spent many hours with friends enjoying this pastime.

Pastor Trevor leaves a legacy of love and care and we join Heaven’s chorus in saying, well done good and faithful servant.

There will be a Celebration of Life service for Pastor Trevor on Thursday, May 25th, 11:00 AM at Riverwood Church, Factory Location, 257 Riverton Ave.
