MATTHEW KINGSLEY ISAAK

June 1, 2009 – February 21, 2020

On February 21, 2020 our sweet, kind, bright, wise, loving, joyful person Matthew Kingsley left the physical body that could no longer support his spirit.

Matthew’s legacy of love, joy and kindness will be carried on by his mom and dad, Clare and Jordan; Grandparents, Valerie, George, Bruce and Calla; Great-Grandparents, Margaret, Peter and Helen; Aunt, Uncle and Nephews, Gabrielle, Dan, Austin and Bryn; his large extended family; many, many best friends, classmates, teachers and community at École Marie Anne Gaboury; his friends and teachers from Soul Kids and the congregation of Soul Sanctuary; his teammates in soccer and hockey; and countless friends who knew him and loved him.

Matthew loved life more than most, and had a knack for living gracefully. From a very young age he knew the importance of community and friendship. Matthew was the best teammate, and friend you could have. His enthusiasm and easygoing nature made any time you spent with him feel effortless and perfect.

Nine short months ago, Matthew was diagnosed with a Diffuse Midline Glioma, an aggressive brain tumour that primarily affects children, has a survival rate of less than 1%, and for which there is no standard treatment. Thanks to support from his exceptional community, he was able to receive non-traditional treatments in the comfort of his home, that improved his quality of life so that he was able to enjoy the things he loved most. Sadly, as a result of tumour growth patterns and the toll of the tumour and medication on his physical abilities, he never became eligible for treatment trials.

Friends and relatives are encouraged to share memories, stories, and/or condolences for the family by using the comment section on this page.

A celebration of Matthew’s life will be held at Soul Sanctuary, 2050 Chevrier Boulevard in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Due to the Covid-19 concerns the time and date of service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Maddox’s Warriors to support childhood brain cancer research, or Team Brody Foundation to directly support families of children with cancer.
