RONALD C. LAVALLEE

February 15, 1957 - January 6, 2021

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of my father, Ron. After a lengthy illness he died quietly in his home on January 6, 2021.

He is survived by his mother Yolande Lavallee; daughter Roxane Bohn (Karl); his grandsons, Kain and Lincon Bohn; Uncles, Ray and Fred (Therese); Aunties, Donna, Marcelle E., Marcelle G. and many beloved cousins.

He was predeceased by his father Cyril Lavallee, many Aunties, Uncles, and cousins.

Ron was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 15, 1957. He grew up in St. Laurent, Manitoba as an only child, although he was always surrounded by his cousins who he would call his best of friends. As a child he loved to play baseball and hockey. He enjoyed having a good laugh, in school he was popular and known for calling friends by their last name. After High school he moved to Toronto to attend University. It was at York University where he studied the Arts. My Dad had a passion for movies, in fact he was one of the first and few of people to own an 8mm camera and projector. He also loved music and playing guitar. He enjoyed listening to the latest album and introducing new music to friends such as David Bowie. He lived many years in Toronto, then moved to Calgary where he worked as a Sheet Metal Worker before finally settling in Winnipeg. He was always cheering for his favorite teams, the Winnipeg Jets and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Memere and I are so grateful to our family and friends for reaching out.  Many have taken the time to contact us, share stories and offer help. The generosity shown is very much appreciated.

Thank you to the Doctors who took care of my dad; Dr. Halmarson (family doctor) and Dr. Bard (urologist).

A celebration of Ronald’s life will be announced at a later date, when we are safely able to come together. In the meantime, Ronald’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. They also encourage the sharing of photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.
