JOHN MacEACHERN

October 5, 1950 - October 8, 2020

John Kenneth MacEachern passed away peacefully in his sleep a few days after his 70th birthday.

He will be lovingly remembered by his mother Evie, brothers Scott (Zrinka), Norm (Sandra) and his nieces and nephews Scotty, Kelsey, Rob, Ashley, Katie, Mikey, and their families.  He was predeceased by his father Ken.

To his family, John was a compassionate (Peter Pan style) warrior who proudly carried his heart on his sleeve. He grew up in Winnipeg and his happiest days were spent at Tuxedo Park School and later at Charleswood High. John was very popular (especially with the girls) and excelled at sports.

John loved the Bombers, the Jets and the friends he watched them with, classic movies, visiting the cousins, cats, The Beatles, all holidays, the family cottage on Lake of the Woods, cruise ship adventures, hamburgers, soft ice cream, playing the guitar, and Christmas in Vancouver (not necessarily in that order).

His many jobs over the years included diamond drilling 'up North', stage managing at the Manitoba Theatre Centre and apartment manager on Wolseley St. But his favourite responsibility was being the proud uncle to his beloved nephews and nieces. Family meant everything to John, especially his cherished Mom and Dad. He fiercely loved those closest to him.  He was a powerful presence and life was always 'interesting' when he was around. There is an empty space in the world where John used to be but memories of him will always fill our hearts. He watched out for each of us throughout his life and there's no doubt that he now has an even better vantage point to continue his role as Guardian Angel.

We will miss John immensely because we all loved him very, very much.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no service as per John’s request. John’s friends and relatives are encouraged to share their own memories and stories of John, or condolences for the family, by by making use of the comment section on this page.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Grace General Hospital and the Seven Oaks Hospital for the excellent care John received during his final days.
