DAVID JOHN MCCULLOCH

September 13, 1982 - March 23, 2022

It is with great sorrow that we announce that our beloved father, son, brother, uncle, partner and friend, David McCulloch, passed away on March 23, surrounded by his close family.

David is survived by many who loved him including his son Little David (LD) and LD’s mother Jessica; parents Dave and Sally; sister Cara (Scott Westman); brother Mike (Tiffany); nieces and nephews, Noah, Kinsley, Kylie, and Brooks McCulloch; Carson & Sydney Westman, partner Chelsea Siwak; and countless family & friends.

David was born and raised in Winnipeg – although he’d make it known that it was his West St. James roots that ran deep. He graduated from John Taylor Collegiate in 2000 where many of his lifelong friendships were made and cherished his whole life. After high school – David’s career with WestJet led him to Calgary for a number of years, which allowed him to pursue his love of travel. Calgary became his second home and made many friends and family along the way.

David was an avid sports nut. He loved the Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Blue Jays, golfing, skating on the ODR and catching any live sporting event. His passions included cooking, trying new restaurants, hosting dinners, traveling, concerts, music and binge-watching all kinds of shows. But perhaps the brightest, most joyous moment in his life was when LD was born. No way you could find a prouder father.

David was a person who lived to make others laugh and feel at ease. He loved and enjoyed life with his loved ones, despite his declining health in the last couple of years. He seemed to know everyone, and everyone wanted to know David.  He was kind, generous and had a fabulous (if not inappropriate) sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him, and while we are saddened by his passing, we are also finding comfort in knowing that his struggle over the last few weeks are over.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the staff in the ER, Three South and ICU at the Grace Hospital and Dr. Tim Ross for everything you did in support of both David and our entire family.

In lieu of flowers the family gratefully recommends donations to the Grace Hospital Foundation. A private celebration of David’s life will be held a later date. A GoFundMe has been set up for his son LD, (Little David’s First Moments Fund).

David's family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.
