MARGARET MCNEIL

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful mom, aunty, friend, grandma and great grandma, Margaret McNeil on November 23, 2023, at the age of 90 years young.

Margaret is survived by her daughter Janet Smith and her husband Russ Smith-, Her son Frank McNeil (Rhonda) and her daughter in kind, Sheila Liang.

The loves of her life also include her grandson Justin, granddaughter Meghan (Skylar), Kayla and Keanna. Her great grandchildren, Natalie, Teagan, Niece and Nephew, Christine and Blair (Adam).

Predeceased by her loving husband Patrick McNeil and little nephew Luke. Her parents, Frank and Amanda Opel.

Born in Winnipeg mom, worked as a hairdresser until she met and fell in love with dad, Patrick McNeil. They married and had two children. Mom eventually became a full-time homemaker.

They bought their first and only house in the 60’s, in Transcona and have been there ever since. Raising her children, discovering her passions of cooking, baking, gardening and yoga.

Mom loved her flowers and would create the most beautiful flower gardens. She loved to share all her knowledge and could answer any question ever asked about each and every flower she ever planted.

Mom had a heart of gold and if you knew her you would feel her unconditional love. 

Mom loved to spoil her children and grandchildren by making special treats and goodies.

Sundays were always the gathering place at Nannies. Lots of fun, laughs. Swimming in the pool during the summer. Dogs, Cats all, were always welcome!

Heaven for sure got a little brighter as they welcomed another angel. Mom is back in the arms of dad.

We love you mom, rest in peace and know that you will always live in our hearts forever.

Our family would like to extend our gratitude and heartfelt thankyous. The staff at the Concordia and Riverview Care Centers. The special and compassionate care you provided mom has been greatly appreciated.

Margaret’s celebration of life will be held December 6th, 2023 @ 2:00 pm located at 603 Wellington Crescent.
