JOHN NORMAN GLEN ABBOTT

January 17, 1949 - May 6, 2022

We are sad to announce the passing of John Abbott after a lengthy battle with cancer and dementia. His wife Marianne passed away just three weeks prior. They were to celebrate their 49th wedding anniversary this summer.

 

John was employed by Winnipeg Hydro and Manitoba Hydro for 35 years as an accountant. Upon retirement he and Marianne made their annual trek in their motor home to Thief River Falls, Minnesota, and spent the summer months in their happy place.

 

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial for Marianne and John will be held at a time to be determined in June. In the meantime, John’s family kindly requests that friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by visiting his tribute page at EthicalDeathCare.com Memories and stories published by those who knew him are available there.

Am very sad to get this news and my deepest sympathies go to those who were with him.   Johnny and I grew up in the same house as small children.  His mother was my grandmother and his sister was my mother.  Both John and Marianne were godparents to our oldest girl.  Lost touch when we moved to Vancouver Island.   Would love to have contact with anyone for more information.  My name is Val Jones (nee Smerechanski) and phone is 250-797-6495 and email is vajones123@gmail.com

My deepest sympathy and those of my 2 sisters as well goes out to the family. John was my mother's sister and therefor my Uncle and we are sadden by news of both Marianne and Johns passing. Could someone please contact me when a service has been set both of them as I would like to attend as I live in Winnipeg.
